We are very lucky to have an amazing array of super talented photographers in Wellington. Your wedding photographs are your printed memories of your very special day. They need to reflect the emotion of your wedding and tell a story. It is so important to select the right photographer for you as a couple. You need to like their style of work but most importantly to you to connect on a personal level. You spend pretty much most of the day with your photographer so you need to feel relaxed and happy, that way they will capture the best of you.

All the wedding photographers I have the pleasure of knowing are all walking encyclopedias on all things weddings. They see everything and have seen it all. So make sure you ask your photographer lots of questions they will all have great advice. One particular piece of advice they might suggest is taking the bridal party images before the ceremony. The first time I heard of this is gasped in shock. Surely this is not right! You can’t break tradition! But I have to say I have opened my mind to this and for the right couples it does work. It can take away the nerves involved in the ceremony, you have more time to mingle with your guests and you can create your own special “first look” moment. The couples I have spoken to have made this moment into something out of romantic movie and say it didn’t detract from the ceremony at all.
But I think I will let the images speak for themselves………………………………

Thanks to the gorgeous couples for sharing their images and the clever photographers who captured them!

Spring Flowers

Posted by admin in Blog - (0 Comments)

I have to say this is my favourite time for the year for flowers. Spring provides us with the most fragrant of flowers, daffodils, fressia’s, early cheer and stock. Those divine fragrances create glimse of joy in these cold grey days. Spring also provides the prettiest of seasonal flowers, ranuculus, poppies and tulips all so very cute. The magnolia trees are in full bloom, so beautiful with their huge petals. But out of this huge selection of flowers, the one I love the most is the cymbidium orchid, my favourite is the deep plum and pink ones. When Blair and I were married the date hinged on the availability of the cymdidium orchids as flowers are so important to me and I had to have them. Katie, my sister created a gorgeous trailing bouquet of orchids, freesia’s, jasmine and my favourite greenery maiden hair fern. As you can see I love old fashion flowers and greenery. Like carnations and gypsophia, cybidium orchids have a bad reputation and are often thought as nana flowers. But don’t be too quick to judge, these flowers can look amazing in your wedding bouquet with the help of a very talented florist. All the florists I know are not only super talented and hard working but also hugely passionate about their work. Florists have to be not only creative but also have to have an extensive knowledge of the flower season and how to care for them. So make sure to allow time to find a great florist who will work with you to create the perfect bouquet for you dress, they are a wealth of valuable information so don’t be afraid to ask questions.

A letter in the mail

Posted by admin in Blog - (0 Comments)

I love receiving an invitation in the mail! Not only is it exciting to be invited to something, it is having something that is not a bill in your letterbox. Something beautifully designed in a gorgeous envelope. I have to admit I am a stationary nut ,one of my favourite shops is Kikki K and Madeleine is following in my footsteps with her love for everything at Smiggle. I collect beautiful gift cards and wrapping paper and have more notebooks than I could fill in a lifetime. When we re-launched the Wellington Wedding Show in June it was very important to me that all our guests received a stylish invitation in the mail. Craig and the Graphic Solutions team did an amazing job with the design to give everyone a hint of our new look without revealing our new logo. I even had personalised postage stamps made by NZ Post, these have been a huge hit with stamp collectors all over New Zealand. Almost everyone commented on the invitation’s and stamp in their RSVP, they certainly created the buzz we wanted and made each guest feel really special. At the launch everyone received a gorgeous white folder with our new logo embossed on the front, I love embossing! We tied small black felt decorations with our theme images, a heart, the word DREAM and a bride and groom. How you present your business is important to your clients. It says to them, “you are important to us” and weddings are much the same.

Hasn’t the weather in Wellington been amazing! I love the snow, so beautiful! Rose, Madeleine, Blair and I had such fun building our Snowman on our lawn last night. As we were watching the snow fall, Madeleine said to me, “ it would be so pretty if you could get married in the snowflakes”
