A feast for the senses

A good catering company is worth its weight in gold. There’s nothing more reassuring for a bride and groom than knowing that their guests are going to have a great time, enjoy themselves and rave about the food, rather than stopping off at McDonald’s on the way home! Tim Ward, passionate and talented owner of The Good Chemistry Catering Company, gets it and he wants to work together with you to wow your guests, no matter what your tastes, preferences, budget or venue choice – the options are endless here and it’s fair to say we are truly spoilt for choice with something for everyone! We love a hard worker and someone who is passionate about food, so let’s hear what Tim has to say…
1. Tim, how long have you had The Good Chemistry Catering Company and what was your inspiration for starting it?
Good Chemistry Catering has been running for three years and was inspired by a desire to create a special place with exceptional food and exceptional service, utilizing local resources and local talent which Wellington has an abundance of.
2. You have several venues – how would you describe them and what kind of couple/wedding would they best suit?
The Hunter Lounge is a large flexible space; it suits large weddings of all different styles and budgets. This venue has a dark sultry natural beauty which is brought to life instantly with a ceiling of festoon party lights.
Milk and Honey Café is light and bright stylish and modern with commanding views over Wellington City and a North facing sunny courtyard. Taking its name from the honey comb ceiling and white walls, Milk and Honey has our best culinary talent and can serve a range of menu design from a simple afternoon tea through to a multi course set menu.
3. What sort of packages can you offer brides and grooms?
We package menu choices, hire equipment, staffing and corkage and provide a per head price with no surprises. Our focus is to help guide our clients through the wedding experience by gently divulging our knowledge and offering support and service along the way, there are so many little tasks that need to be done on the day which can easily be taken on by our team, we are the first to arrive and the last to leave so let us work for you.
4. Best advice for couples getting married?
Plan for yourselves not anyone else, remember on the day to let go, what will be, will be! Allow your friends and family to pick up any slack. That is what they are there for.
