It feels like it was only yesterday when we were getting all excited in the lead up to our Autumn Wedding Show in May this year. We were telling you all about the amazing competition we were running in conjunction with For Every Minute and your excitement levels were through the roof! Let us refresh your memory for a second…

We ran a competition at the Show where you could win a luxury bridal package valued over $2,500 simply by entering at the For Every Minute Stand at the Wellington Wedding Show. The lucky winner of our swoon-worthy prize stood to gain a glamorous floor length silk robe from For Every Minute as well as a gorgeous chemise, full bridal make up including a trial, consultation and 25% discount for the bridal party courtesy of the Penny Rose Mobile Styling Specialists, a manicure and pedicure at The Finishing Touch, a delicious selection of gourmet canapes from The Canape Company, two bottles of beautiful bubbles from Regional Wines and Spirits, a case of sparkling water from Antipodes and one night’s accommodation at The Wellesley Boutique Hotel for the romantic wedding night, including a late check out and breakfast. And the cherry on top – the wedding will be featured in the Autumn 2014 issue of MR&MRS magazine!!

Now that’s a pretty sweet prize! And today we are writing to tell you a pretty sweet girl won it! Her name is Ceit McLean and we couldn’t think of a more worthy winner. You will be able to read all about Ceit’s wedding in our Autumn issue next year, but in the meantime we have taken a few minutes to get to know her a little better below. We guarantee you this gorgeous couple will leave you wanting more, so stay tuned for MR&MRS issue 6 due out May 2014.

1. Ceit, what exciting news about the divine prize you have won. How do you feel about your win?

I am so unbelievably excited! I made my lovely maid-of-honour Libby (who was a little worse-for-wear from the night before) stand and wait for ages while I filled the entry out and when I found out we all went out to Matterhorn to celebrate.

2. Tell us a little bit about how you imagine your wedding day to be and who will be there to share your prize with you?

Our wedding day is going to be a country and intimate affair out in Makara with 70-80 of our closest friends, family and pooch celebrating with us – my friends and brother and Zane’s mum have been so wonderful pitching in with planning and DIYing because we are doing it on a shoestring!

3. Plans for the big day – venue/reception/dress? Any details you would like to share that we can then follow up with when we do the magazine article.

The venue is the colonial St Patrick’s Chapel in Makara, and the reception next door is the Makara Community Hall. My best gay friend Josh has been so amazing with coming up with decor ideas and he is also an incredibly talented baker, so he’ll be making our cake. His partner Corentin Esquenet is a photographer, so we’re really lucky to have him doing our photos. My dress was the first one I tried on at Astra Bridal! It’s a simple 1950s style gown, but I loved it so much and no other dress looked as amazing on. We’ve also got one of our favourite bands, the Wellington Shake Em On Downers, playing at our reception

4. Most exciting thing about planning a wedding is …

It’s just starting to get a bit stressful, but I’m about to spend the rest of my life with the most amazing man and that’s what it’s all about (I’ve been making miles and miles of bunting and just when I’m about over it, I get all excited about Zane and the dress, and all of our nearest and dearest and that’s what is most exciting).

5. Every bride needs a …

handsome groom! And I’m also now realising a really awesome support team to help plan/make/organise – it’s actually quite a big job!

6. Lastly, tell us a little something about you and your partner.
Zane is a Gisborne boy and chartered accountant at Victoria University, and I am Hong Kong born, Nelson raised and currently training to be a counsellor. I don’t know if I believe in love at first sight, but I was definitely pretty smitten. We share a passion for music – I trained as an opera singer, so that’s pretty important to me, and film, and he has a great sense of humour! But personalities-wise, we are total opposites. He’s the cool, level-headed, logical one and I’m the emotional, excessively social one. It’s a perfect fit.
